Cloning: Good or Bad?
81Cloning is a highly controversial topic these days. Many scientists consider cloning a vital step in the advancement of medicine. And then there are many others that are opposed to cloning because of the moral ramifications.
The real reason that cloning is explored is because of the possibility of using organs from clones to give to other people that desperately need it. This idea is known to some as “organ farming”. This is one of the reasons that cloning should not be explored. Humans will be created for the sole purpose of using their organs for other people who need them. This creates an “inferior race” and shows the clones as nothing more than tools for society.
If people could clone and have their offspring look exactly like them, then many would choose this instead taking a chance with a partner. This turns the miracle of creating life with a partner seem as if it were completely unnecessary. Babies can be made at will, and there will be no happy surprises when the baby is born. It will look exactly like its parent.
Perhaps the biggest reason that cloning should never be explored is because of where it may lead society. Cloning is the creating of a creature (in this case a human) through artificial means. If humans could start cloning, their clones would have the exact same DNA as the parent, which makes them look similar. As the idea of creating humans with specific traits is explored, many will get the idea that they can not only create identical looking humans, but also how they should act. The book Brave New World from Aldous Huxley is a good idea of what would happen if humans dabble too much in playing the hand of God. Eventually, people could be bred with others to create perfect traits as if they were animals.
If you were to say this in front of any advocate of cloning, then most would deny it. But if these were not the reasons for cloning, then there is no reason for it. And if you ask them their reason for cloning, then they will often give you a vague answer. The most used one is that it will be a huge advancement in medicine. But how will this help others? Their answer will probably be something like “It allows us to better understand how DNA and cells work”. But there are always other ways to study cells without cloning.
Cloning should not be explored because it in no way helps the world. If there are people that need organs, then there are always donors. Or find other ways, such as somatic stem cells. If cloning is a step onto advancements in medicine, then the world is better staying ignorant.

I agree with what you say about cloning. we shouldnt do gods job of creating humas. we try so much to be like god that we mess up society more. For example when albert einstein created the atomic bomb; he had no intention for it to be used for mass destruction, but to discover the power of atoms. This discovery however was useful for warfare and it lead to many people using it in wars thus destroying millions of people and regions. Sometimes we shouldn't abuse our curiosity. it is better left wondering.

Hahaha. Totally agree with the grammer stuff. i have to do a paper on cloning and this only helps with the ethical stuff but not the facts please post some more facts. I need those more because if you don't understand anything about cloning and you post stuff about inferior races and things like that, it might be your belief but not others' well i need more help on understanding more on it. I know that first an egg has it's nucleus sucked out with a very sharp needle. Then i simple skin cell is inserted into the empty egg that only has the things left that help the egg grow. Then that skin cell's nucleus grows up and becomes a baby. Thats cloning. This is just ethical stuff. It might help with oppinions but in my case it does not help that much. Sorry.

ok hold on a sec, "there are always donors" ?? actually there are not always donors. thousands of people at the bottom of donor lists die waiting for an organ that will never come. statistics say that about 16 people right now will die if they don't get a new organ within the next 24 hours just in New York. consider situations like this:
a father of four has just gotten into a car accident and he needs a new heart or he will die. he did nothing to deserve his condition and neither have his kids. if you had the power to clone, what would you say to him? "oh sorry, we could actually save you with a farmed organ but some people think we shouldn't play God." doesn't he want us to use every resource we can to protect and preserve our life?
consider this other situation:
a soldier has just been wounded in combat and needs a new organ. this man has sacrificed everything for the country he is fighting for and is about to give his life for it. how can you deny him that life saving organ because it is against your moral principals.
and as far as medical research, cloning would eliminate virtually all genetic diseases such as downs syndrome or tasax (look it up). if a parent were to be so unfortunate and have a child with a mental/physical disability they could just clone their child to have that disease eliminated.

This is merely stupid. If you actually understand the meaning of 'cloning', it is NOT to create cloned human beings. It is basically to harvest stem cells and cure diseases. It is also bad to create stem cells and extract it from an egg because it requires millions of ovaries from women, BUT it is NOTHING about cloning humans, my dear sir.
